The elephant walks around with very expensive tusks but it spends it's entire life searching for grass and leaves.
This shows the difference between value and importance. The value of an object entails its Equivalence e.g the value of one tusk might be equivalent to thousands of US dollars .On the other hand, importance entails the significance of an object e.g the grass is food for the elephant.
In other words, the value of the tusks has nothing to do with the elephant, meaning value is "objective, whilest the importance of grass is entirely dependent on the elephant ,making it "objective ".
the value of something depends on what everyone else thinks about it,,and the importance of something depends on what you think about it.
It is very important to understand this difference, because the things that should be important to you are the things that matter in your life. But unfortunately,to most people,it is the valuable things that are important to them: I'm sure you can imagine the dangers of that if you think about the elephant one more time
